Swimming Pool FAQs
When chlorine in the water mixes with bodily fluids ie: sweat, oils and dirt, a build- up of chloramines ( Combined chlorine) forms. Backwash and replenish with plenty of fresh water and fresh chlorine until the combined chlorine stops rising.
It is important to keep your PH levels in your swimming pool between 7.0 – 7.4. If it is too high your water becomes too alkaline, issues like scaling to your pool components and making your chlorine ineffective. If the PH is too low it becomes acidic which can start to corrode your swimming pool surfaces.
It’s the start of algae forming in your pool which can spread quickly if not treated. There are a number of factors that can cause this ie: Low chlorine levels, restricted flow from the pump or skimmer basket. A shock treatment is required to the pool water to clear the algae.
